Imagine diving in a parallel universe where every single detail, from the lighting to the music, from the clothes to the makeup to the hair, seems to be in perfect harmony in creating an atmosphere of sophisticated grunge. Mark Fast’s A/W 2012 show was all that and more. The collection is entitled “Questions in a World of Blue” and is inspired by the same lyric from Fire Walk with Me. Every element was carefully studied to convey a very clear vision of our destructive society. The artist encapsulates the paradox of our times where hope and liberation can only emerge among the chaos. To do this, the artist chooses a dark palette composed of black, eclectic blue, grey and earthly beige. The only ray of light in the collection comes from a few nude pieces. The fabrics of choice are cashmere and merino wool. The patterns are essential, with vertical stripes being the recurring lait-motif in the collection. The cut is minimalist, and the silhouette is relaxed, with a preference for layers and poncho-like fringes.
